Fox Cities Snow Removal
Snow Removal FAQ
Everything Fox Cities homeowners ask about residential snow removal — honest answers, no runaround.
Service Basics
What snow removal services do you offer?
We offer residential driveway clearing, sidewalk clearing, walkway clearing, and any additional areas around your home — patios, stoops, side access paths, whatever your property needs. Service is fully customizable. We work on concrete and gravel surfaces. Just let us know the full scope of your property at the time of your quote so we can price and plan accordingly.
What cities in the Fox Cities do you serve for snow removal?
We serve the same Fox Cities communities as our lawn care service: Appleton, Neenah, Menasha, Grand Chute, Greenville, Harrison, and surrounding areas in the Fox Valley. Same crews, same service area, all year long.
Do you only serve residential customers for snow removal?
Yes — residential only. This is a deliberate choice, and it’s a big part of why our service is so reliable. Most snow removal companies prioritize commercial lots because of the contract revenue. Residential customers end up serviced last, if at all. At True North, residential homeowners are the entire business — not an afterthought. You’re first fiddle.
What equipment do you use for snow removal?
We use snow blowers and shovels for the vast majority of residential properties — roughly 85% of customers. Snow blowers deliver a cleaner, more thorough scrape than a plow and are far less likely to damage driveways, edging, or landscaping. For larger driveways where a plow truck would be significantly more efficient, we have that conversation with the homeowner beforehand. No surprises.
When should I sign up for snow removal service?
As early as possible — ideally in September or October before the season starts. We take a limited number of residential customers because our commitment is to service every storm at every property with consistent quality. Our slots fill up every year. Existing lawn care customers get first access. If we’re at capacity, we’ll add you to the priority list for the following season.
Snow Triggers & Response Time
What is your snow trigger — how many inches before you come out?
Our most popular package runs on a 1-inch trigger — the choice of roughly 80% of our customers. Once accumulation hits your trigger threshold, you’re queued for service and we’ll have your property cleared within 12 hours of the storm’s end, often much sooner. We also offer a Platinum package with fully customizable options for customers who want the highest level of coverage.
Do you monitor the forecast, or do I have to call you every time?
You never have to call us. We monitor Fox Cities weather conditions around the clock and dispatch crews proactively. We live and breathe this stuff — when a storm is coming, we already know it and we’re already preparing. You just wake up to a clear driveway. That’s the whole point.
What time of day will my driveway be cleared? Before I leave for work?
We operate 24 hours a day, 7 days a week all winter — including overnight. Snow doesn’t follow a business schedule, and neither do we. What we can’t guarantee is a specific time of day, because that entirely depends on when the storm ends and total accumulation across all of our routes. What we can guarantee is that we push to reach every property as fast as humanly possible. We don’t take breaks during a storm event.
What if we get multiple rounds of snow in one storm?
For snowfalls over 8 inches, or storms lasting 24 hours or longer, we make multiple passes. We’ll clear mid-storm to keep your driveway accessible and safe, then return for a final clean pass after the snow ends. We initiate this proactively — you don’t need to request a second pass.
Will you come out during an overnight snowstorm?
Absolutely. We don’t look at the clock when it comes to snow removal. If a storm ends at 2am, our crews are clearing driveways at 2am. Around-the-clock commitment is non-negotiable for any snow removal company that takes residential service seriously — and we do.
How quickly do you respond after a snowstorm ends?
Our target is within 12 hours of the storm’s end — and we aim to beat that consistently. Response speed depends on snowfall type and density, total accumulation, and road conditions. We build our route structure and crew deployment specifically to move through properties efficiently without cutting corners on quality.
Reliability & Coverage
What happens during a major blizzard — can I still count on you?
Yes. We have never left a customer without service — including the winter of 2025–26, when the Fox Cities saw more than 27 inches in a single event. We build our entire operation around worst-case scenarios: the equipment, the crew structure, the route planning. Small storms feel easy because we’re over-prepared. Big storms are manageable because we planned for them.
Do you service every storm all winter, or is it per-call?
Every qualifying storm, all winter long — no call required. Once you’re on our list and your trigger threshold is met, your property gets serviced. That’s the entire purpose of residential snow removal. We don’t make you manage it; we handle it.
What if a storm hits over a holiday or weekend?
We work Christmas, New Year’s Eve, and every holiday in between. No exceptions, no surcharges. That’s exactly what you’re paying for — the ability to enjoy your holiday without worrying about a foot of snow blocking your driveway. Our team is committed to full availability from the first snowfall of the season to the last.
How do you protect my lawn edges and landscaping while clearing snow?
Before the season begins, we install property stakes to mark your driveway edges, lawn borders, and any key landscaping. Every crew member knows exactly where the boundaries are before they arrive. Combined with our use of snow blowers rather than plow trucks, the risk of damage to your lawn or landscaping is minimal. Snow blowers are precision tools. Plow trucks are not.
Do you use markers or stakes to identify driveway boundaries?
Yes, every property gets staked before the season. It protects your lawn and landscaping, and it helps our crews work faster and more accurately — especially in low-visibility conditions or heavy snowfall. Stakes go in before the first storm, and we remove them at the end of the season.
Communication During Winter
How will I know when my driveway has been serviced?
We send a text notification before every service visit so you know we’re on our way. You’ll never be left wondering if your property is going to get cleared. Communication has historically been one of the biggest failures in the residential snow removal industry — most companies are focused on their commercial accounts and residential customers find out about problems after the fact. That’s not us.
Do you send notifications before or after a storm service?
We send a heads-up text before we arrive. After the service is complete, you’ll see it — a clean driveway and clear walkways. You’ll also receive your end-of-month billing statement. If you ever want post-service confirmation, just let us know and we’ll set that up for your account.
Who do I contact if there's an issue after a storm?
Text, call, email, or message through your account portal — all routes get answered. If we missed a sidewalk, left a section uncleared, or anything isn’t right, let us know immediately and we’ll be back out within 24 hours to fix it. No debate, no excuses. We train hard to make sure it doesn’t happen, but when it does, we own it.
What communication tools do you use to keep me informed all winter?
Pre-service text notifications, your personal account portal (invoices, payment, service history, messaging), plus direct access by call, text, or email anytime. We believe communication is what separates a great snow removal company from an average one — so we invest in it deliberately, not as an afterthought.

Pricing, Contracts & Payment
How is snow removal priced?
Pricing is a flat monthly rate based on your trigger package, your property’s driveway and walkway square footage, and overall complexity. You’ll know your price before the season starts — no surprises, no fluctuating bills based on storm frequency. Predictable service, predictable billing.
What payment methods do you accept for snow removal?
We accept credit card, check, PayPal, and ACH (bank auto-pay) — same as our lawn mowing service. Pay however works best for you. Everything is managed through your account portal.
Do I have to sign a seasonal contract?
We provide a single-season pricing agreement so you have clarity on your rate and what’s included — but it’s not a contract in the traditional binding sense. You know your price, we know our commitment. No cancellation penalties.
When am I billed, and is there a discount for prepaying?
Billing is monthly, at the end of each month. If you’d like to prepay the full season upfront, we offer 5% off the total. Monthly autopay is also available with no discount but great convenience. Your choice.
What if we have a very light winter — do I still pay the same rate?
Yes, your monthly rate stays the same. Here’s the honest story: Fox Cities snowfall totals are remarkably consistent year over year. Twenty-plus years of data shows that while individual storms vary, annual accumulations stay within a predictable range. Our pricing is built on that average. In a lighter year, you come out a bit ahead. In a heavier year, we absorb the extra labor. Over time, it evens out and the rate is always fair.

What if we get a record snowfall year?
Same rate. Same service. Outlier years happen occasionally — in both directions. The standard deviation in Fox Cities annual snowfall is actually quite small when you look at the full 20-year record. The average is just that — a reliable average. Our pricing is built to absorb natural variation, and we’re confident in it.

Service Quality & Guarantees
What is your satisfaction guarantee on snow removal?
100%, no exceptions. If something isn’t right — a missed area, a walkway we didn’t get to — contact us and we’ll be back out within 24 hours to correct it at no charge. We want it right the first time, every time. When it’s not, we fix it. No debate.
Are you fully insured for snow removal services?
Yes — fully insured. Our coverage includes employees, equipment, trucks, trailers, and property damage. We have maintained a clean damage record for five-plus years of service, largely because we use snow blowers and shovels rather than heavy commercial plow trucks. But in the event anything occurs, you are covered. We can provide proof of insurance upon request.
What if your equipment damages my driveway, mailbox, or landscaping?
We fix it. If any damage occurs from our service — snow removal or otherwise — we take responsibility and make it right. No exceptions, no runaround. We’re fully insured and we do the right thing. Your property is treated like our own.
Existing Lawn Care Customers
I'm already a lawn mowing customer — do I get priority for snow removal?
Yes — lawn care customers always get first access to snow removal slots. We typically price and confirm winter service for returning customers in October each year. Let us know early and we’ll make sure you’re locked in before spots fill up. It’s one of the benefits of being a year-round True North customer.
Can I bundle lawn care and snow removal for a discount?
Ask us when you get your quote — we take care of our year-round customers. The bigger benefit of bundling both services with True North is that your account, billing, communication, and crew relationship are all in one place, all year long. No managing multiple vendors, no starting from scratch each season.
Can I use the same account for both lawn mowing and snow removal?
Yes. Your True North account covers all services year-round — mowing, snow, cleanups, and one-time projects. Everything lives in one portal: invoices, payments, service history, and communication. One account, one relationship, all four seasons.
